linksys wireless router range booster

by admin on February 8, 2010

why is it that my linksys router?

never has good range. i use it for my ps3 and i get weak signals and i have to kepp my ps3 close to the door. my friend has the same router and he get almost perfect signals and he doesnt keep the antennea upright (90 degrees) while i have to or the signal drops. why is that i have to do all these things to get a good siganla while my friend jus has to plug in the router and keep the antennea where ever and still gets good signals. the distance is about the same for both of us. i got a linksys wrt54g v8 broadband wireless g router. im thinkin of switching to a wireless router w/ booster and built in antenea. and how do i upgrade my router? and no im not moving my ps3 closer or using wires.
read my last sentence. ho do i upgrade my router?

It could be the materials used to construct your place as opposed to the materials used in his.

Sheetrock walls versus concrete walls (or something similar) will have a serious impact on the strength of your WiFi signal.

Of course, this is all speculation as I don’t know what kind of place you live in haha.
Worst case scenario, get a booster or a stronger router. But try just resetting and recalibrating your current router first

Good luck :)
