Wireless Internet Speed to Distance?
I have a Linksys router that I use to get wireless internet. It is at one side of my house and it can’t be moved because I need it to be connected to my non-wireless desktop. The range is okay within about 30-40 feet, but when you on a different floor at the other side of the house it gets down to about 1-14mbps.
My question is:
Since most webpages are a few kb, does it matter if the wireless is only running at 1-14mbps? Will it be slower, or just not transmit as much information every second?
Also, can anyone suggest a cheap way to increase the range? I have a WRV54G.
Thanks in advance!
Well it will make a difference if you get more than 1 – 15Mbps on your fixed Internet line as a transfer rate in the first place.
Your Speed is going to be limited to the package your ISP (Internet Service Provider) gives you.
Pickup a wireless adapter so your fixed PC can go wireless. They are really cheap.
Move your router to more central location there after.
Cheers.
