Can I use a Linksys wireless router with SBC Yahoo DSL?
I was wondering if I can use the Linksys router instead of 2wire with my SBC Yahoo DSL.
You can of course use Linksys for your wireless connection but you need to check first because your 2wire might be a modem/router that also have wireless capability. The issue of having a modem(especially if the modem that you were provided was a modem and a router) and a router separated is that you have to configure a lot of things and if you are not very techy, doing this can be very frustrating because this can cause you to lose your connection from time to time. And everytime you lose your connection, you have to call tech support for help causing you to spend time and money. Why money? Money because if you cant do it yourself, so the possiblity to have your issue solved is to get a local tech or call your ISP’s tech support (which can be free, but would only support you what they’ve provided you. They would most probably ask you to by pass your router and connect you using the 2wire modem only and if you want to connect your router, then they would ask you to call Linksys to configure your router because they are not allowed to configure routers in sbc.
So if I were you, make sure fisrt what equipments you have there and choose which one would really save you time, effort and money.
