linksys wireless router security wep

I have a linksys wireless router and could I change its security from wpa-tkip to wep?

AS fanatic78 says, yes, you can.

But why do you want to? Could you use WPA-psk instead (pre-shared key; everyone you want to connect will need the key, as they will with WEP–but WPA is much harder to crack than WEP)?

WEP is better than nothing, but if you can use WPA, do so.
