linksys wireless router setup address

Wireless Network/Second WAP Setup..pro’s only plz..?

I have a Linksys N wireless router. I will be buying a second one for the backyard pool house. I have WPA-2 and mac filter engaged on first router. I understand I connect second one with LAN port to LAN port, disable DHCP, and configure IP address (correct me if I’m wrong).
What I need to know, is how do I carry over the security settings of the first one to the second one…do I have to configure myself, even mac address filter? If I have a friend come over, I have to configure both mac filters? Do both WAP get same SSID, WPA code, if I want to be able to “roam”?

Second thought that just hit me..both routers can be accessed from any connected computer on the network (assuming I have the passcode for each router)?

How is this similar to how large buildings (20+ routers) are set up for wireless?

Thanks for your help!

I would advise you to log on to your router, look for the spot that allows you to save your configuration to a file. When you save the file install the new router and upload that file to retain all the settings such as MAC filter and so on.

I don’t believe two routers can have the same SSID. If they did you wouldn’t be able to tell which one had a problem or which one you were logging on to.

As long as you have the IP or link to log on to the WAP any computer from within your network should have access.

Also, Linksys Website may show you diagrams of more advanced configurations such as yours with step by step instructions, I’d personally take a look there.
