Finding WEP key for Linksys WRT54G wireless router?
Ok I'm having trouble finding the WEP key from my router. I am also having problems to connect to the installation site. Every time I try to connect to the IP address 192.168.1.1 that displays the username / password screen. Leave blank user and type "admin" in the password. Not accept the password for some reason. So I did a Hard Reset using button the back of the router. Any suggestions? Thanks for the advice. I updated my firmware and WPA2 security settings using my laptop and an Ethernet cable. I will go to the desktop and see if it worked! If he did 10 points coming your way!
Agreed with the person before this username and password are "admin" without quotes. Once connected, then instead of using the old and manipulable wep that is 64 or 128 bit encryption to use and choose WPA2 AES for 256-bit encryption for added security. "WEP" has to be generated and if you do not know it to backup then lost to restart now the router may seem like a text document saved on the computer. With WPA2 with AES even let you choose your own password instead of generating a key but you can use the key as the password to something long and simple choice, as your 10-digit mobile number and the second name of his father. I would also recommend after performing these changes in the configuration backup so you can restore your router in the future.
