How I can remotely access my office PC that is connected to a LAN to my PC using VNC or other software?

My office PC has an IP local assigned to it and connected to a router office. From my little knowledge and use of VNC i simply key in the local IP address from any PC in my office work. However, if I'm home, how I can do? I asked around and some people say I should have used a static IP address / public and the program of my router should be noted that the public IP of the local IP address that is assigned to my office PC. Is this correct? If yes? How i program my router is wireless linksys (WRT54G)? We appreciate your help in this? Thank you.

VNC usually operate on the default port 5800. If you have a router in your office, you have to connect to it with administrator rights, and create a virtual server (or forward) for personal computer in that office. Thus, the router has a public (Internet) address and asigns local (LAN) ips to the local teams. You have to find your office computer `s intellectual property and point to it from the router. So, when you try to connect from your PC, you will be key public IP Office, and the router connection point through its port 5800 directly his office computer. Search virtual server or port forwarding on your router.
