problems with a linksys wireless router…help please?
well first we bought a $50 linksys router that wouldn’t let me connect to my ipod or wii so we exchanged it for a $80 linksys that lets you connect to ipods and wiis and all that jazz. well yesterday the old router was perfect and we were able to connect to a laptop, but with this new router we have it all set up, but we can’t join the network. when prompted for the username and password, we enter it in and it says unable to join? we’re stumped on what to do next. any help would be great because we’ve been messing with these damn routers for 2 days straight. thanks!
Also, change the SSID on the wireless configuration in the router so it’s NOT “Linksys” Everyone and their cousins run Linksys routers out of the box, and they all have the same SSID. You “may” be trying to connect to someone else’s router, not yours…
Once in the wireless setup, and you have changed the SSID, check the security and passwords for it – while you are there…. Reset the router afterwards…
