linksys wireless router with cable modem

My New Linksys wireless router does not connect to my DSL modem Westell No, Why?

Please help me! I really want to connect my Nintendo Wii connected to my dsl internet. when my Internet service company instructed me on my modem connection, I told my Ethernet cable was not necessary. I have not used my ethernet cable, because, and I have no problem with my Internet services. this is the first wireless router I connected, but when i insert the router created disk, I get two options: change my existing router to use my two routers i did not know what to choose, so I chose to use both. i follow all instructions on the screen until I get to the part where it says my ethernet cable connecting the LAN port on the back of the router. i do not I have my ethernet cable connected, so I connect to the back team and the other end to the router. After all this, it says my router could not be found! PLEASE HELP! (I'm desperate)

You need two cables ethernet. If you do not have to go to any PC shop and buy. A Corner of the local PC store they sell for much less than Best Buy or places like that.
