With an Airlink print server, how do I connect a wired desktop and wireless laptop at the same time?
I have a desktop and a laptop both connected to a linksys WRT54G router (desktop via cat 5 cable, laptop via wireless). I was sick of going down stairs to plug the laptop into my HP photosmart 1215 to print so I bought a wireless print server (Airlink AMPS240W). I ran the setup software on the laptop first and everything worked perfectly. Then, I ran the software on the desktop and it worked perfectly but, (herein lies the problem) it kicked the laptop off, so I changed the IP address the laptop was looking for and it linked up again, but kicked the desktop off. How do I get them to use the same print server at the same time??
Thanks for your help.
you need to give your print server a static ip, they usually ship being dhcp which can change every 2 to 4 hours(horrible) then make sure your clients have the ip point to the print server.
