How I can configure my wireless router when the installation program detects the old router?
I have a wireless router today and written instructions to use the first CD. I did but was not able to detect my old router, so can not continue. What else I can configure it to be safe? I have a Linksys WRT54G, does matter.
What is not clear to me why it is necessary to detect the old router, unless the software trys to migrate settings from the old to the new router. If this is the case, not the software, who are caught entering the configuration information manually. You should be able to see this information in the old router before going to the configuration settings of the router, either through a software tool that comes with it, or http interface as the previous poster refers to. According to the user guide Linksys router, 192.168.1.1 is the address assigned by default to the auto router on the LAN. Scroll through the router configuration of age, type, and then configure the router with the hand through its own HTTP server. From ISP password can be hidden in the configuration pages for the old router, you have to remember some of this information on their own. If you no longer remember, call your ISP and have the password reset. See pages 2 and 9 of the manual below for information on setting wireless security.
