netgear wireless router as repeater

New router worse than old one?

I just bought this $100 Linksys Wireless-N Router to replace my cheap Netgear-G router. I have been using my Desktop computer with a Linksys Wireless-G PCI card with the wireless router. I set up the new router, but now the connection with my PCI card is worse off than it was before (I got 3-4 bars before, but now I get 1-2). I even moved the router across the room but to no avail.

The router is in the same place as it was before. It has NO EXTERNAL ANTENNAS. I am considering buying a different router, a wireless repeater, or finding help here.

And if this doesn’t belong in this section. PLEASE DON’T LOCK. Move it instead.

I used a Linksys Wireless-G router and wasn’t pleased with the connection. The adapter would constantly lose the signal when I was gaming. I guess there was some weird interference. However, my brother and sister have laptops and they don’t have a problem with it. It makes me think that Linksys doesn’t make reliable network adapters?

But yeah…you’re using a Wireless-G card with a Wireless-N router, so I don’t think you’d see an improvement in speed unless you got a Wireless-N card.

Just my guess
