Do I need an N network card on my laptop to use a Netgear wireless N router?
I have a Dell Inspiron that is about three years old. Letter I'm looking to switch to cable and want to buy my own router. The guy at Best Buy said the N router will not work better unless have a network card N. Is that true? A Wireless G router enough if I listen to music, etc?
If your laptop has a G card, velocities obtained from the router N. G Almost all the N routers are backwards compatible. If you want the highest speed of N, then you need an adapter N. However, since Internet access is much lower speeds everyones G (54MBS) G routers work fine! Unless you have several machines wirelessly at the same time save money, buy a router G. If you can find an N router, you would like to get it, work very well. You have to configure the router and prompts you to use b / G / n but that will not hurt at all.
