Connecting cable modem to netgear wireless router?

I have an NTL Home 200 modem cable connected to a desktop computer, but now I got a laptop I would like to connect wirelessly, so you bought a netgear dg614 v6. The only problem is that it seems that can get it working … I can connect the Ethernet cable from the back of the cable modem network port on the back of the Netgear, then run another ethernet cable one of the numbered ports on the back of the netgear to the pc. When I try to connect the time of the NETGEAR configuration window first to find … my type is detected network (DHCP) and then performs some automatic configuration. The only problem is, when it says its now going to test the setup, it says it can not connect to the Internet. I've done everything you suggested, but no joy. It's just a pain in the rear and I can not see a reason for not going to work. Any Help much appreciated, Greetings, Leo

Hi Leo, Netgear DG series of products are mainly DSL and wireless routers do not. If you mean WGR614 v6, its configuration Basic should be fine, however, it is necessary to check whether your cable modem was installed as a modem or bridge work as a device for natto. It is best to put contact your service provider / carrier Netgear that can help you easily configure your connection. You can also update information and service provider I might be able to get more help. wi-fi ..:)
