How I can get Ubuntu recognized my wireless router NETGEAR WG311v3 .. I'm the Wi-Fi?

Well I used to have windows xp but I completely wrong and now I have ubuntu. So when I had XP that came with the computer and I have the disc, but the work of custom products key and have gone as far as I can with the money I have to fix. But just wont work. So now all I want is to get Ubuntu to recognize the things I have to download to connect to NETGEAR. Do the things I download to connect to netgear recognize the software i have to install? You can translate the software into ubuntu? I really need it Help I have to use ubuntu to connect to the Internet wirelessly to the bottom of the router using ubuntu you to recognize that I have to install software.

Ubuntu does not recognize automatically configure the new hardware as Windows does. This is especially true of wireless adapters. The following process is similar to what I did when I configure my wireless adapter in Ubuntu: ——- The network configuration tool can be accessed via the system menu (System -> Administration -> Network). Under the "Connections" tab, you should see a wireless "line (if not, your wireless card probably was not recognizied). Click the "Unlock" button (bottom right) to enable updates to the configuration. The wireless connection "line must be enabled. Select that line, then click the "Properties" button (right). Among all the appropriate values for your configuration wireless. I would be more specific, but I know nothing about the radio network to which you want to connect, is configured. An alternative to using the GUI Network tool to update the file / etc / network / interfaces file system. An example of this file is: # #——- This file describes the network interfaces available on your system # and how to activate them. For more information, see interfaces (5). # The automatic network loopback interface iface as the inet loopback # This is a list of network interfaces hotpluggable. # They will be activated automatically by the hotplug subsystem. mapping hotplug script grep map eth0 # The primary network iface eth0 inet dhcp iface eth1 interface inet dhcp wireless-key xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx wireless-essid wireless-mode managed myessid #——-
