netgear wireless router download software

Help setting up a Netgear Wireless modem router on OSX?

Well this is mad – the box says yes for OSX but the CD comes in PC format. It tells you to download some software at a location that will allow you to read the CD but when you go to it is says NO WAY WILL THIS WORK ON OSX!!!!! Have tried manually installing it but in the system preferences it isn’t recongnised … probably because it needs the Netgear software. Has the world gone mad (extra points for answering that)?
