Not getting internet with netgear wireless router…?
I have a netgear WGR614. It was refurbished. My mom believes she set it up right since the wireless network shows up in the network and sharing center. It says that we have an excellent connection but when I try to go on the internet nothing can load. I tried using an adapter but it’s not helping at all. I have tried reading the setup manual, the reference manual, and downloading the latest firmware. Nothing works. I even pressed the little button in the back of the router and went to routerlogin.com and when I fill out the basic settings and apply it I can’t tell if it’s connected or not. How can I get it to work?
BTW:
- it came with no cd, it said download something from the netgear site but idk what
- i have vista
- i dont know if i have a static ip address
- once again i already read the manual
- and i called netgear and they said that the router is expired and there never was a cd meaning we were ripped off.
Make sure you put the connection from your broadband line into the right port on the router. Make sure the router is using the proper connection for your broadband type. See if your router is getting an IP address from your provider. (this would not be a number in these ranges 10.x.x.x or 192.x.x.x)
Most of the time, you can actually call your broadband provider who will help you set it up for free.
