home network problem I tried 2 different wireless router everything works fine for a week then slow. I am using a desktop Windows XP with my cable connection son step is to use a laptop with Windows Vista wireless hook up. I originally used a Netgear router WGR614v4. To think that my router was old and a new router could solve the problem, so I bought a Belkin N router problem it works very well for a week and then slow. I tried to create secure networks and I had my son use step by cable instead of connecting wirelessly same problem.

If the machines are clean, the router may have interference problems. Change the channel or turn off the wireless network completely. Vista has to be clean to run right to do a disk cleanup and defrag. Should I the same with XP. If both are accessing the network while the bandwidth is shared between machines. Even with a wireless network N will fall back to unity over slow to access it. Most laptops only run in G. Are you sure that the ISP is not throwing a speed limit of downloads. Several do this to keep a person from using all available in this sector.
