HP C5180 printer, Ethernet and wireless network connection?

Just bought the printer on the name and has an Ethernet port. I have a configuration wireless network at home. Both my main PC laptop and connect wirelessly to Internet via my: Netgear DG834G 54Mbps Wireless ADSL2 + Modem Router Firewall with 4-Port 10/100 Switch The instruction in my printer's manual indicates how to connect the printer to a 'router, switch or hub with an Ethernet cable. I can do a physical connection between my Netgear router and my printer using the Ethernet network cable and therefore my laptop PC and then connect wirelessly the router then communicates with my printer? Could someone explain this to me I'm quite confused.

OK – Without getting too technical, the short answer is yes you can. The Netgear router has 4 ports for cable connections using traditional Cat5 cables, as well as support for wireless connections. This is designed to deal with situations like yours exactly where some devices can communicate wirelessly, but some still need a connection cables. The printer does not have a wireless card so you will need to connect it to one of the 4 ports on the router using a Cat5 cable as the documentation describes. Your PC and laptops can communicate with each other through the router using wireless connections to the router and both will be able to see if the printer is connected to cable. Just make sure they are all either using the router as DHCP server or are all on the same TCP / IP subnet.
