My computer cannot network? trying to set up a netgear MR814 wireless router…?
Two of my friends have used this router for extended periods of time, so i know it works. When i plug it in, and set it up (using ethernet cable) as per the instructions on the disk it comes with, my computer displays the internet as being connected, but i cant actually browse or use the internet at all, However the wireless connection still works fine. My thought is that perhaps my computer is not using the same gateway as my router, but A) i dont know how to check the routers gateway and B) ive reset the tcp/ip stack which is correctly configured, so it should determine the proper gateway automatically. i am able to renew my IP while connected to the router, so somehow im managing to access my DHCP, but not my DNS.
You know that that is an 802.11b router right?
Make sure that your computer wireless adapter is set up to be able to use wireless b connections.
It’s not a gateway problem. The gateway address will be the same no matter how you connect to it.
