Netgear wireless issue. anyone have ideas for me?
Router – MR814 v3 with most recent firmware
Wireless Card (laptop) – Atheros AR5001x+ Wireless Network Adaptor – updated to driver version 4.2.2.14
OS – Windows XP with Service Pack 2
Problem: My internet is working when my computer is hooked up directly to the router. My wireless connection is not working but the SSID is being broadcast to my computer. My computer and wireless cards are on the allowed device list. I have restarted the computer in every way possible (ethernet attached/not attached, etc.) and I have reset the modem and router multiple times. Attaching directly to the router via an ethernet cable is not an option because of the location of the hookup. I have tried tweeking the settings on the router’s admin site but nothing has helped.
Any ideas on what I can do?
I have a WEP set up and the correct passcode is entered.
I don’t want to buy a new router but that might be the way to go.
Everything is installed properly.
May be the problem is in detecting the Wireless router properly. You might have updated the router then also update the driver of your wireless nic card. With your Wireless Nic card in place. Log in to the router and select attached device list. If you see the wireless nic card then good. Next See if it falls inside the IP range, if it doesn’t you might want to try giving it an static IP.
