How do I connect two routers so I can print on a printer on the other router?
I have two wireless routers. I have a Netgear Rangemax and a DLink 524. The dsl connects to the Netgear then to the DLink. All the computers and devices connected to the DLink are isolated with NAT. When I deactivate DHCP on that router, I cannot get into the net, etc. I can’t print from computers connected to my first router either, nor fileshare. I figure the first router should be set as the only one to use DHCP and the second to just take the addresses somehow through the WAN port and distribute to each of its switch ports. Theoretically, but what settings/menus, concepts are important? Thanks in advance!
you can not use 2 routers on the same connection, they conflict. You wither need a wireless access point or a wireless range extender to increase range. Your printer would also need to be wireless or a lan connected one wired to the router, or alternatively a switch connected to it. You could use a normal usb connected printer to one machine and share it to the network. The same rules apply either way.
