3 Paystaion is wifi compatible with NETGEAR – RangeMax Dual-Band Wireless-N Router?
I am thinking of buying a 160gig PS3 in the coming weeks and I'm planning on taking full advantage of all the extra Sony PlayStation Network has to offer, including important firmware updates and critical security patches. The thing is I've been hearing around that the PS3 wireless connection is 802.11b / g wireless Ethernet port. In fact, I worry that there could be problems of lack address. I'm also thinking I need need for additional RangeMax USB Adapter for PS3 if I can not use the Wi-Fi already on board. Your help is appreciated and thanks in advance!
Short answer: if wi-fi N is 100% compatible with G and B, but will not have any of the enhanced features – speed, range, etc. are limited by the slowest device, in this case the client adapter on the Playstation. Personally, unless there is some reason to get a Wireless N router (such as share media between computers) that do not spend the extra money. If you only care about the internet, save the money for something better and get a G wireless router – which I will do just as good for much less money than one. Remember, if you have the option of using a cable, and it is always better, faster, cheaper, and more ANY form of reliable phone!
