netgear wireless router reset network key

I forgot the password to my wireless router

My family has a Netgear wireless router. My sister recently received a laptop computer and we must allow access to the wireless network, but when she tried to get prompted for a password. First, does the WEP key or some otherwise, and secondly, how I can recover or reset it? I tried to go to 192.168.1.1, but also requested a user name and password. This has never happened before.

Yes, you want the WEP key (unless you use a different type of security, then would the WPA password or any other system you are using). When you go to 192.168.1.1 not asking for the WEP then it wants the administrator password on the router. In the Netgear factory sets the username "admin" and password of "password" to try. If you need to restore in full, you will have to adjust all the new wireless equipment, but that may be the only option if you can not get either password. To do this press and hold the reset button on the back of the router for more than 10 seconds. Some routers have to use a folded paper clip or piece of wire to press the button. Google "reset the Netgear router and you'll find more specific instructions.
