NAT routing: Secured open front?
I have a Netgear WGR614 v7 router and two computers that are connected to it (cable, wireless). The problem is that when I'm browsing the internet my connection is very slow. So I checked my router settings to see if there was a problem and encountered with NAT "filtering" option that has two positions "Guaranteed" and "Open." It created the "insured", but then set to "Open" to see if that speed things up, and he did. Then I read somewhere that NAT filtering is critical to the safety of your computer's network by hiding IP addresses. But the thing is that I have a Trend Micro Firewall installed on both computers, wouldnt that make up NAT for the filter I just disabled? Any comment will be greatly appreciated.
