I need some advice on wireless routers.?
Hi Guys,
I have a Virgin Media modem connected to a Netgear WGR614 v9 wireless Router, as supplied by Virgin & I’m on the 20mb package.
My ? is this, if I replace the netgear router with a Belkin N1 Vision Wireless Router, would this speed up my downloads?

Depends. 802.11n has better potential range than 802.11g, so if you’re getting slowed down by connection drops it is *possible* the router could improve performance.
However, in general, the difference between 802.11g and 802.11n is only useful for improving internal LAN speeds (ie: between two computers on your own network). The reason is, even 802.11g is capable of 54 Mbps, which is likely far more than your modem, so the router probably isn’t the “bottleneck”, so to speak, in your slow downloads.
