how to run p2p software(sopcast, tvuplayer bittorrent)on a wireless router?
hi,
I recently bought a netgear WGT624 wireless router(haven’t reveived it yet) and was reading reviews that a lot wireless routers dont support p2p softwares. I have a dell dfat N built in wireless card and i was wondering whether i would have the same problem as others have?
is there a way around this problem?
Most of these devices have a build in firewall. Imaging a big brick wall blocking you from the internet. The way the internet protocol works, every program that uses the internet uses a specific “port”. Each port is a brick in the fire”wall”. Now you open port(brick) #80 to allow your Internet browser to work. Now you open port#443 to get your prowser to shopping web sites. You open port #110 to get yor E-mail and so on.
I hope I have not lost you yet.
Want you need to do is tell your netgear device what port to use for the program that you are using. You will have to find the port that your program is using. Then you will have to go into your device and set that up. I hope that helps.
