Problem with Netgear WGT624 or Time Warner Roadrunner Cable?

My ISP is Time Warner Roadrunner Cable. I have a Time Warner-issued modem connected to the cable outlet. The modem is connected to a Netgear WGT624 v2 wireless router. Every time I download more that 2 torrents simultaneously, my wireless router cuts out, but the modem stays connected. I have to reset the wireless router each time. I had no problems like this prior to setting up the wireless network. I want to be able to download as many torrents at the same time as possible. Sooooo my questions are….

1) It seems to me that the wireless router is the problem. Am I right or could my ISP still be at fault?

2) If it’s a matter of replacing my wireless router, what brand and model do you guys recommend? Please let me know what ISP you use as well.

Thanks!!!

If you are downloading multiple torrents from the same computer that is connected to the wireless router then disconnect and connect directly to cable modem. See if the problem still exists and if not then you know for sure that it is the router failing and not the cable modem.

I can tell you that Time Warner Cable does NOT enforce any type of traffic shaping methods.

If you are downloading via wireless and not wired I would suggest going wired if possible for a more stable connection. I would check to if there have been any firmware updates for your Netgear and upgrade. If not, I am a fan of Linkysys personally. A simple WRT54G should do.
