A Problem With My NetGear Wireless Router?

Hey all. I’ve got a NetGear Modem Router (DGN 2000) and have had it working for a few months. I have just gone onto the Netgear website (on my laptop) to register an iPod on it. I then went onto my Windows XP computer to try and find its Mac address so I could register that too. After going on ‘command prompt’ and then onto my wired connection settings (Speedtouch), I eventually found the Mac address, but now I can’t get the wireless router to work- the internet light does not turn on meaning it doesn’t work. The only setting I have changed is the Firewall setting on my XP computer (from off to on) and I just can’t get the router to work. Please help! If this is a bit confusing or something doesnt make sense, please message me!
I’ve tried turning off the Windows XP firewall, but in doing this the internet light turns red…which is basically the same as no light at all :( . And I didn’t register the iPod with netgear, I registered it on the router so I could go on the internet on it.

HI, most routers incorporate their own firewall so you don’t need to set the XP firewall on as well. It is generally not recommended that you have two firewalls running consecutively, just as you shouldn’t usually run two Anti-Virus programs together. I suggest that you turn off the Windows XP firewall.

Netgear Firewall + Blocked Sites Setup.
