Wireless N network does not reach 300 Mbps?

I recently upgraded my router 802.11g 54 Mbps to 300 Mbps 802.11n Netgear WNR3500 router. My setup is the following: Gaming PC + Media Center PC + Playstation 3 are connected by cable through 1.0Gbps switch gigabit built I have 2 laptops wireless connected, one operates at 54 Mbps (802.11g is built in) and another that operates at 144Mbps (802.11n is built in), why is the latter work only at 144Mbps even thought the router is configured for 300 Mbps and both are compatible 2.0 Draft N? I tried to make portable next to the router and the other side of the house and signal strength is still 5 / 5 bar and 144Mbps? I've heard I need to something called channel bonding to the laptop to connect at full speed but this can stop the laptop slower 802.11g connection? How I can keep it running at 300 Mbps? Is it necessary for this channel bonding and prevent the other laptop reliable connection? Thanks

300Mbps speed is never reached under normal conditions and is a burst of speed theoretical laboratory conditions. In domestic use, the speed will be degraded due to local electrical interference microwave wireless phones neighborhood networks, the walls of concrete floors, etc. is a good 144Mbps speed and is above you speed Internet – ADSL is 8 MB and 10-20MB cable. The 144Mbps only be achieved within your intranet. Once you start Internet access beyond your router that can hit the speed limit prescribed by your ISP
