VHS tapes can be deadly Plasma HDTV
I just got a new 63 "Samsung Plasma 1080p HDTV.I put a VHS tape that is normally looked good on My TV picture tube age at the time of my VCR but do not look as good in the plasma screen.Is this normal? Also some DVD's of old movies ("The Wild Bunch, "for example) did not look all that much playing either.Will movies over upcoverting and / or scaling player makes a difference?
Well, the quality of VHS was never considered that all great, even in the seventies when first invented. In addition, some movies are just bad dominated and coded. Your new TV will show these defects much faster than before, simply because it is a great improvement (and presumably much larger) TV. If you are currently using something like an RCA or S-Video connection between the DVD player and TV, then get a conversion player up and hook up via HDMI to improve the quality of bulk. Otherwise, you will have to gravitate towards the Blu-Ray to get the quality you are looking for.
