Does a full hd upscaler work on torrent movies?
I purchased a Samsung PS50A456P 50″ Plasma TV http://www.pcworld.co.uk/martprd/product/seo/089386 and a Samsung HT-X310R Home Cinema System. http://www.pcworld.co.uk/martprd/store/pcw_page.jsp?BV_SessionID=@@@@1482398364.1222778986@@@@&BV_EngineID=cccjadeffffejehcflgceggdhhmdfho.0&page=Accessory&sku=670236. The home cinema systems dvd player says full hd upscaling. does this mean a standard dvd will become HD? and if i have a torrent movie on dvd will that also become HD?
It doesn’t become HD, upscaling means that the processor in the TV takes the image and stretches it, guessing at the missing detail. Thats not the same as using an original HD video with all the detail included. A torrent file will have been encoded and compressed. This means that some of the picture detail/color range from the original source will have been lost. Depending on the original source of the video (video in cinema, original DVD, blue-ray disk), and the amount of compression applied, the picture could still look awful when scaled back up to fit on your 50″ screen. The only video at the moment that will look good and make proper use of your Plasma TV is a proper HD or Blue-ray source..
