Dead Pixel Row in Plasma?
This morning my 50″ Samsung Plasma TV developed a dead pixel row. It goes all the way from the top of the screen to the bottom. All the pixels stay a maroon color. It is 2 years old, so out of warrenty. Is there a fix and what does it cost?
Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but there is likely NO fix. The reason is the mode of failure. There are 3 modes, row, column or pixel. Row and column have transistors which control the whole row, whereas pixel controls the individual pixel. If a row or column, then you may be able to fix the single failed transistor which is separate from the glass. If a pixel, you are SOOL. as it is part of the glass. As for cost, my local repair facility charges $75/hour with a minimum of 1 hour whether they find anything or not. The repair from there could go to hundreds of dollars.
