Samsung 58 "plasma off with an HDMI cable connected?
I have an HDMI cable (or cable comes with the desktop actions anyway to monitor), and I am trying to connect my laptop to watch movies but when I plug in the back of my TV only goes? I have connected the desktop before, but this is my first time trying to do this with a laptop. Sony Vaio VGN-FW590 ATI Radeon HD 4650
If the TV turns off, which probably means either there is no video signal present in the HDMI cable (TV enters power saving mode), or the output of the resolution for the laptop is not compatible with the TV. Hard to tell since you did not say the make / model of your TV. The VAIO, hold down the blue Fn key and press F7 to select the external monitor for viewing. A guide is displayed, press Fn + F7 repeatedly to select the icon called HDMI or DVI. If the resolution of TV is not detected correctly, you may need to open the control panel display Windows to configure external monitor resolution to match that of your TV. You may have both portable TV screen and active at the same time, but to see movies you may want only the selected TV.
