Need Help Setting Up Netgear Wireless Router!?

I’m trying to enable my parents’ wireless router, but I can’t seem to get to the point where my laptop will read the router!

They’ve got cable internet through Comcast, and the cable is connected to a RCA router. The RCA router is connected to a Netgear wireless router (the Netgear router is connected to their desktop computer). The wireless light is flashing, and I can see the wireless network from my laptop in another room, but every time I try to connect, my laptop gets stuck on “Waiting for Network”, then cuts off. I’ve never had any problems connecting to a wireless network from my laptop before, so I know the problem isn’t my laptop.

Any suggestions on how to make it so that I (and others in the household) can connect to the wireless network? If you could make it in layman’s terms, I’d really appreciate it… I’m not very tech savvy!

First of all you need to find out if the wireless router you bought is compatible with the Internet cable service you have.

Call Comcast and give them the model number of your router they should be able to tell you if it’s compatible or not.

I am almost 100% sure that’s the issue.

If not, the comcast folk should be able to help you configure it with your account so that it can broadcast the signal.
