setting up wireless router diagram
Is it possible to connect a cable modem to a PC wirelessly without having to wire the wireless router to a PC?

I’ve had a look at how to set up a wireless modem. A diagram shows that the Cable Modem is wired to a Wireless Router which is wired to a PC. Then the wireless router can connect to other PCs or laptops in the household or network or whatever.

The reason I ask this is because I watch live sports streamed from the web. I want to take my pc downstairs and connect it to my TV (which has a VGA port in the back). Then connect wirelessly to the internet and so I can watch the sports on my TV. The cable which goes into the back of the modem isn’t long enough to go downstairs and into my living room.

I don’t want to have to buy a laptop or another computer just to get internet wirelessly. Please can someone help or direct me to a website which properly explains how to make a cable modem accessible wirelessly.

Thanks in advance
Thanks to everyone who’s answered so far.

Yes you can as metioned above.

I’m assuming you have a laptop.

Connect your cable modem to your wireless router via the Internet port/WAN port. Connect the laptop to port label 1 on the router, then run the installation cd. After its all setup, you can disconnect the wire from router to your laptop. Now turn on the wireless on your laptop. You are able to be on the internet anywhere in your house.
