setting wireless router on vista
How I can set up a network between a Windows XP desktop and a notebook Windows Vista Basic?

I can not access the Internet through both equipment, but I can not access a computer on the other. They do not appear on the other computer. The desktop running XP is connected through a wireless router. The laptop with Vista Basic uses a wireless connection. The help I have read seems to apply only if both computers use the same edition of Windows. Could missing the obvious step here, so could someone please point it out for me? Indeed, the laptop picked up the router and create a network of Internet access immediately. The desk had to be reset before you got it all. The router is a dlink. ISP is road runner with Time Warner if that makes a difference. Thank you very much for any help.
