We have a Netgear RangeMax ADSL Modem wireless router DG834PN. What is the best wireless NIC PCI card for it?
Details
My PC= Dell XPS 420; with Intel X38 chipset; and Vista 32 bit operating system.
Distance from router to computer: 5m (about 16 ft)
Locations: Router is in one bedroom; computer is in another bedroom opposite with corridor between them.
Router is compatible with 802.11b and 802.11g formats
I have looked at
1) D-Link DWA-556; Cost £40
2) Netgear WPN311 RangeMax Wireless PCI Adapter £40
Some people have said the Netgear WPN 311 rangemax card causes a Blue screen problem (BSOD) See blog bellow.
I am having problems finding objective reviews comparing rival products! What are your experiences?
I own and operate a number of these cards. They are largly the same. All are standards based, therefore all will work one with another.
I have found that I prefer the USB2 type of wireless NIC over the PCMCIA type. Even though they both work fine, that has become my defacto standard because they seem to be the easiest to install and use.
I also like the Linksys family of products for reliability.
Have You Ever Used bt’s Wireless Home Hub?
