I'm trying to configure a wireless connection. Can you do this only with the cable modem and wireless router?
I'm trying to configure a wireless connection at home. We have cable internet goes into the cable modem, then connect to our desktop PC through a cable Ethernet, as we have an unknown problem with the PC's Ethernet card. We bought a mobile router to use the laptops at home and we have established a wireless connection. However, there was no Internet behind it. Just tried to connect the wireless router to the PC, which does not seem to have a card working Ethernet network. Can you configure this wireless connection only with the cable modem and wireless router? I suppose this chain of devices would be cable -> cable modem -> cat-5 cable – wireless router>? Would that work?
yes, and that's the ONLY way it works. The remains connected to the cable modem as the WAN port router connected to the modem, you may need to configure the router using a PC cable first. Just to connect one of their laptops to it with a network cable, once the installation, you do not need the cable ….
