Comcast Cable Internet and wireless router issues?
I have Comcast as my cable internet provider. I bought my own Linksys cable modem and wireless router. my mobile internet connection is still working and was very upset, this occurs at least every half hour. is very bad and I'm not sure if Comcast is the connection of target or if it's my linksys modem. I suspect is the cable connection that keeps up and shutdown. linksys routers I've used before and works well. All ideas, experiences or thoughts? I pay lots of money to Comcast and, in turn deserve a good connection. Please advice if you have had any experience with this or if you have any recommendations on things I could do to check the problem.
Probably isn't comcasts fault … I've had Comcast for 4 years, and its a heck of a lot better and faster than DSL … Heres what you do … Using Comcast cable modem for the modem, and just get a linksys router … Meet the team defualt Comcast given, is usually better than what can be picked up at the store … So the cable modem connects to the router. In your router configuration, which Linksys is 192.168.1.1 in the address bar of Internet? You basically set your connection type to automatic, to give comcast.net hostname and name of the supplier. Then copy the MAC address (in the configuration of linksys). Comcast The way it works is, the first computer is connected to the cable modem, the modem is registered, AKA if you unplugged your desktop from the modem and plugged into your laptop, will not let you connect, as it recorded the IP phone desk … If you disconnect the router for 5 minutes, and connect to any PC, the PC will be recorded. My point being … Register the modem to a PC, then clone the computer (which was registered modem) MAC address in linksys router. Or just clone the modems mac is now the same as the team registered in the router … Once you've done that, everything should be configured properly and you should have no problem. The problems you are probably some of their equipment … An easy way to find out, spend some time to connect different computers and if you get the same response. In some cases, Comcast has to come and clean the cables or put back some new cable because the old cable was ruined by rain or what not. In general, do not just work in that case … Also to check the crossover cable or at home. Sometimes, if you have a cable extending from one pole to multiple TVs in your home, Electricians install DIVIDER boxes that divide the signal SIGNAL Cable and Internet and allow to run mutiple sites at home … These dividers have frequincies different and support different speeds … If the divisor impropper is installed, the Internet can lag, work sometimes and then stops, or just be rediculously slow at times and sometimes faster than the moral history … ie, get Comcast to put your splitter, and electricians … Ive been on that way myself.
