How to connect DSL connection to wireless router?
Ok, here is the problem, I just recently upgraded from the stoneage to DSL. I set everything up correctly but was unable to get on the internet. I resorted to calling tech support. They gave me a prefered and alternate DNS address to apply. I put that in and it worked. That same night my buddy gave me his old wireless router (I reset it of course).
So… I switched from this setup:
Wall Jack – Modem – PC
To this:
Wall Jack – Modem – Wireless router – (connections: Home PC(Wired), Wireless Laptop)
Now I can only connect to the local network. The only thing that has the DNS settings is my main computer.
I have unpluged my router and modem in pretty much every way and restarted my computer countless times.
Thanks in advance
I thought you needed a modem to connect to DSL.
I need the modem to plug my phone line into
i wouldn’t have a modem and a router.
A router can do the job of the router.
My set up is NTE5 (wall jack) to microfilter that seperates voice and data frequencies, router, radio wave, computer.
