wireless router antenna extender cable

by admin on April 3, 2010

how do i set up my d-link di-514 as a wireless extender?

i have a dlink wireless routermodem but the antennae snapped off.
so i want to connect my other wireless router to it so i can have wireless on the second floor of my house. i know this can work as i have it connected now, it works perfectly, although it will stop every 20 mins. the only way i can make it work again is by unplugging it and leaving it for an hour.i have also noticed that when the internet gets limited connectivity after 20 mins, the status light stops blinking.
at this moment i cannot connect to the configuration page either.
i was wondering if possibly it is faulty, maybe it gets too hot after 20 mins.

so is there any way i can use my wireless routter as basically an extension cable for wireless.

I know on a Linksys there is special firmware you have to install in it. You won’t be able to do it with the firmware that is already installed in yoru D-Link device.

If there is no firmware, check this out: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o9KWdOLgylg
