Does anyone know how to configure a new Dell Inspiron with a view of a wireless connection to a router lynxus?
I think I set it up wrong ….. seems think it is a dial-up, but it is a broadband cable high speed. By the way, do not buy from Best Buy: The Geek Squad will not honor their written consent to provide free technical support for one year, and if you call Dell, you get in India, which refers to Best Buy!
First, I will assume that "Lynxus" really is a horrible misspelling of Linksys. I also assume that you have already tried to call the Geek Squad and Best Buy (different) to ensure support on how to do this, and assumed (correctly) that is not covered under any type of technical support because it is a problem with your computer. Here's how to carry out basic building one out of the box correctly Linksys router with a standard DOCSIS 2.0 cable modem. Select the type of security "WPA2-Personal" in the dropdown menu, make sure "AES" is selected in the dropdown menu encryption method (the other option is TKIP), and then enter a random alphanumeric code of at least 16 characters long in the password box. WRITE this DOWN key! Click the Save Settings button at the bottom of the page. 
Select the Administration tab, and enter a new password once in each box password. Enter the password too. Click the Save Settings button at the bottom of the page. 9) Disconnect the cable CAT5 or CAT6 Ethernet computer. 10) Right-click the network icon in the system tray. Clicking connect to the network. 11) Select the network with the network name or SSID assigned. Click the Connect button. 12) Enter the password that you noted earlier. Click the Connect button. 13) Make sure that the Save this network and Start this connection boxes are automatically checked, and then click close. 14) When the popup window will ask you to select the location, select "Start" or "work." 15) In Internet Explorer, on the Tools menu, select Internet Options. 16) On the Connections tab and make sure that "Never dial a connection" option button is selected. Click Apply. 17) Click LAN Settings. In the window that appears, make sure that all boxes are unchecked and click "OK." Then click "OK" again to exit the Internet Options window. And, as the saying is. You have connected your laptop to the router correctly, if all went well. Now, the caveat is that if you do not understand this, or give you problems, you should call a professional in. absolutely, positively, a security professional and secure a large company that does this sort of thing all the time. Because honestly, if you're asking here instructions for configuring a router, learning network theory sufficient to resolve properly is not worth your time or effort.
