Can you force any wireless a / b / g router to broadcast only in 802.11a (for example, to reduce interference from 2.4GHz phones)?
I have no wireless router, however, have an ABG 2.4ghz cordless phones and portable. I have a small distance between the router is positioned and the laptop, so I'm not too worried about the range. I just want to use the 802.11a bandwidth. I wonder if it is user selectable in the router, or if the defect is always 802.11g. THANK YOU! Wyzard said that the choice of a / b / g has no impact on interference with 2.4GHz phones, but I understand that 802.11a uses 5 GHz frequency and therefore does not interfere with 2.4GHz phones. Any comments?
It really depends on the router and it has to settings, but in most cases, yes. There should be a setting somewhere in the router configuration that allows mixed-mode change to the selection of technologies 802.11 to use.
