wireless router internet connection is disconnected
15Mbps internet connection is not getting 15Mbps via wireless router.?

I have 15Mbps internet connection from Cable ISP. When I test this speed on speakeasy.net or speedtest.net website I get around 15Mbps connecting straight to my Cable Modem. I have several laptop computer and an iPhone so I need Wi-Fi around the house. When I test the speed via wireless D-Link home router to Cable Modem with physical ethernet (RJ-45) Cable I still get around 15Mbps. However, whenever I disconnect the physical cable and just use the Wi-Fi from my D-Link router, I only get 3 or 4Mbps. D-Link router is 802.11g so I should be able to get full 15Mbps but I’m not getting close to that. My laptops are both 802.11g/n compatible so should I upgrade my router to 802.11n router or wireless is just slower compare to physical cable. I change the channel of my wi-fi to see if I was getting interfered with other wi-fi but nothing works.

The speed degrades as the signal does, chances are you are a bit too far away from the access point to get the full speed. Make sure you have 5 bars or at least a “good” connection.

Also log in to your router and check the settings because it is usually possible for a g to be set as a b, enable g only mode. b should at least give 11mbps though so I’m thinking its an issue with the signal.
