wireless router is not working
will a wireless router work to get internet from a neighbor onto a desktop computer?

my friend has computer with no internet. if he gets a router will it work to get internet off his neighbor? (they are aware and ok with him doing it so hes not stealing it without their knowledge)

Yes it will work, provided he/she is in the range of the wireless network (generally between 50 and 300 feet depending on the model, thickness of walls, and other devices in the area) and that the person having internet has a cable or DSL Modem. Set your SSID (network name), Channel, WEP/WPA (security key – I recommend enabling security), IP address, and enable NAT and DHCP on the LAN side of the router, and then install a wireless card in that desktop (if not installed already), install its drivers (if needed), and then select the SSID and enter the security key on the wireless settings on that computer and you should be good to go.
