DNS Error, but only when using my wireless router..
Hi, I’m not the most technical guy around so please bare with me, I hope no one has me messing with my registry or anything like that either.
To sumarize my issue, I have cable internet through comcast, when I plug my internet cord from the comcast modem directly into my laptop (LAN), the internet works perfectly fine like right now.
When I try to plug my internet cord from the modem to my Linksys wireless router (WRT54G ver. 6) it shows via my laptops system tray that I’m connected just fine, signal strength is excellent and all 5 bars are lit..yet it gives me a DNS error when I open internet explorer…same thing happens when I try to get my PS3 to pick up my wireless internet.so i can download updates…very frustrated right now.
Any solutions?
Thanks in advance…
Try this. Switch off your cable modem and your router. Wait 30 seconds then switch on your cable modem only. Wait another 30 seconds (until the modem is fully operational) and then power up the router.
This should clear any cache information in both devices and allow the cable modem to see the router as the first device connected and it should also allow the router to pickup the ip, dns etc.. from the cable modem
