my wireless Internet slows considerably when multiple users are in?
when I'm on the internet and other members of my family contact, speed seems to slow down significantly. I have cable internet and a Netgear wireless n router so I do not see what the problem.
It is not a "problem." It is the way networks work. Think about your connection to the Internet as a source of water to your home. When you are the only home and turn on the shower to get all the volumes available water (the volume of data) and all available water pressure (think of bandwidth). If your (sister, brother, roommate, etc) comes over and begins to water the lawn while you're in the shower, watch the water pressure and decrease the volume, or may not if there is enough water pressure and volume home. If enough people start using the water in and around your home will feel the difference in water pressure in the shower. The same applies to the Internet. When it's just you, the cable modem gives you all the data volume and bandwidth available exclusively to your system. When someone connects and starts using the Internet also becomes a shared resource. If a third person is recorded on a third computer power is divided into three directions, etc on.
