Does anyone know how to setup TIVO (series 2 dual tuner) using a wired router?
I’m confused. The series 2 dt has an ethernet port so do you need a ethernet to usb adapter? On TIVO’s website it says the series 2 dt doesn’t need a wired network adapter. Does that mean it’s your choice to use wired vs. wireless? I’ve read so much conflicting info that I’m lost. Can someone tell me what kind of adapter I need? I have DSL and a Netgear MR814 router and want to use a wired connection. HELP!
You just run a network cable from your DVR’s ethernet port to one of the ports on your wired router.
The website says you don’t need a wired network adapter because the DVR already has an ethernet port. Hence, no adapter needed.
You don’t need an adapter unless you have a wireless router and want to set up a wireless connection between your router and your DVR. Then you would plug a wireless adapter into either the ethernet port or the USB port (assuming your DVR has a USB port, I think most or all series 2′s do).
