Adding a wireless access point to my hardwired network?
Ok I have a Blackberry Curve, the reason I updated my blackberry was for the wifi voice over ip cause I lose connection from satellite in my house. I have a large netgear hardwire router. Now I want to add a device to the router to create a wireless access point or hotspot so my phone can pick up the signal and maybe even my laptop (notebook). ANY SUGGESTIONS?
Linksys WRT54GS (http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=3910279 )
Connect a cable from the Netgear to a LAN jack on the Linksys. Connect a computer to another LAN jack on the Linksys, go to http://192.168.1.1/ and disable DHCP. Now the Linksys is a wireless access point. (Or you could just disconnect the Netgear ansd use the Linksys as the router and access point.)
